OVERVIEW:  UGI Energy Services, LLC (UGIES) is a diverse energy company specializing in the development of natural gas related infrastructure and derived commodities.  UGIES is in need of a skilled supervisor specializing in the engineering of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems (EIC).  The position will be responsible for supervising the electrical engineering team involved with the design and implementation of major capital projects, as well as overseeing EIC support for existing facilities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage team of electrical engineers responsible for the EIC engineering functions of capital projects. Specific responsibilities of the Manager as it relates to this responsibility will include:
    • Assisting with the development of the project schedule as it relates to the EIC aspects
    • Managing and reviewing of equipment specifications, RFQs, and vendor proposals
    • Overseeing balance of plant design for the EIC systems, including single lines, panel schedules, cable and conduit schedules, hazardous area classifications, network architecture, and loop drawings.
    • Ensure project objectives and code requirements are met.
    • Planning for and execution of plant commissioning
  • Manage the EIC engineering support of existing facilities, including LNG plants, LPG plants, gas processing facilities, and natural gas compressor stations. This function involves design efforts for smaller replacement and optimization projects, back office support of difficult troubleshooting efforts, and continuous improvement of electrical safety practices.
  • Oversee and provide guidance for the I&C group, which is responsible for supporting the instrumentation and control systems at the aforementioned facilities.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards required, particularly NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 72. Familiarity with other applicable codes desired, including NFPA 20, AGA XL1001, API RP 500, IEC 61508, and IEC 61511.
  • Self-motivated and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed technical skills in power and control systems. Strong background with the following equipment preferred: Allen Bradley motor control centers and VFDs, ControlLogix and GuardLogix control systems, Stratix and Cisco networking switches, and WonderWare.   
  • Strong communication skills and an eagerness to work within a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; additional proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam Revu preferred.


Education and Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or similar) required.
  • 7 - 10+ years of work experience in a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing projects and technical personnel.
  • Preference given to applicants with experience in the gas pipeline and/or gas processing industry.
