Overview: Support Retail operations through interaction with LDCs (local distribution companies), pipeline schedulers and traders. Ensure proper gas scheduling according to utility procedures and deadlines. Analyze customer data to accurately forecast and balance customer consumption according to utility balancing rules. Minimize or eliminate incremental cost to the Company.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Forecast, nominate and confirm the receipt of natural gas to our customer’s utilities in markets from New England to South Carolina
    • Query and analyze customer historic usage to determine both daily and monthly demands
    • Implement forecast modeling, based on several factors, including usage patterns, temperature and external factors
    • Work cross-functionally with physical gas trading group, pipeline coordinators, sales and outside counterparties
    • Identify and communicate discrepancies in customer flow, opportunities for enhanced balancing, maintenance of customer enrollments/drops
  • Maintain working knowledge and proper execution of utility operating rules and tariffs
    • Accurately forecast to optimize tolerances and provide opportunity for margin enhancement, while minimizing operational costs.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of all demand for accurate billing and audit purposes
  • Work with IT and Business Analysts to extract data from source system
  • Identify and support recommendations for improved efficiencies

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with computer software to include MS Word/Excel/Access
  • Ability to apply logic, experience and facts to large amounts of data and make quick business decisions
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to change in a rapidly growing and evolving business environment
  • Requires a high degree of organization with strong analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a challenging, deadline driven environment is critical

 

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a Business, Accounting or Energy related discipline
  • Experience in the natural gas industry desirable
