Overview: UGI Energy Services' gas supply department is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Analyst. UGI Energy Services retail commodity division currently sells natural gas to 43,000 customer locations throughout 39 utilities in the Mid-Atlantic and New England region.  In this role, the trader will be responsible for trading both financial and physical hedging instruments across varying energy commodities as well as the optimization of UGIES’ managed assets. The successful individual will review market conditions and delivery requirements in order to determine the most cost efficient asset and hedging instruments to exercise on varying term requirements. The trader will act as a subject matter expert of the real-time market dynamics dictating trends behind his assigned pipelines. The successful candidate will directly contribute to the continued growth of our business through the formal bidding of Request for Proposal (RFP) opportunities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capture all relevant trade data via ETRM platform
  • Assure adherence to all company credit, compliance, and risk policies
  • Analyze both financial and physical market conditions and execute trades to achieve positive metrics
  • Maintain economics behind company owned option assets, both financial and physical
  • Conduct market evaluation of assets and provide recommendations for asset portfolio changes
  • Create, support or advise on departmental forecast of budget performance
  • Evaluate and advise management on RFPs for supply services or asset management opportunities

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in and understanding of Energy Markets, preferably Natural Gas (and/or NGLs)
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills
  • Previous experience with an ETRM, preferred
  • Computer-related experience in the Windows environment and have knowledge of various windows-based application, such as Microsoft Office
