Job Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic maintains Natural Gas Processing Midstream Plant, pipeline and associated auxiliary equipment. The incumbent’s primary responsibility involves the monitoring, operation and maintenance of plant, associated equipment and fluids management. 

Work hours consist of required traditional day shift, and successful candidates must be available for call-outs after hours.  Weekend, evening, and holiday / non-traditional work hours may be required.  In the event of operation/maintenance emergencies, Maintenance Mechanics are required to respond to the assigned work location within 45 minutes.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs work in a safe manner, including use of required personal protective equipment in accordance with Company safety policies, procedures and requirements;
  • Schedules, plans work and acts as a “lead person” engaged in maintenance and repair of Natural Gas Processing Midstream Plant equipment;
  • Maintains regulatory and environmental compliance, efficient, safe and reliable operations, with minimal outages;
  • Requires knowledgeable use of various hand tools, (e.g. wrenches, pipe cutters, dies, electric hand tools, feeler gauges, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc.);
  • Responsible for maintenance including but not limited to: compression; pressure relief valves; pipeline pigging operations; liquids handling; Refrigeration system; leak repair; coatings; corrosion testing and control; equipment monitoring, inspection, maintenance and repairs; general housekeeping and maintenance of grounds/building;
  • Routine maintenance of all Natural Gas Processing plant related equipment;
  • Monitoring and minor operation and maintenance of fluid separation, containment and processing equipment;
  • Atmospheric Corrosion Inspection and follow-up work;
  • Performs work on rotating equipment including, gas compressors, air compressors, fans and pumps;
  • Operation and maintenance work on gas and natural gas liquids processing equipment including separation and containment, dehydration, stabilization, heat exchangers, dew point gas processing units, JT gas processing units, expander/compressor, process heaters and other process equipment;
  • Must be able to use a PC and/or hand held devices to complete Work Orders, enter data into Job Plans, creates new Work Orders, parts procurement, etc. in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System, SAP);
  • Analyzes tolerance and compliance reports, processes work requests for required follow-up work and plans for completion to ensure compliance;
  • Documentation of work in accordance with company policy, and related administrative duties associated with pipeline, gas conditioning and appurtenant equipment operation and maintenance activities such as completion of written forms, records, logs and schedules, etc.
  • General maintenance of facilities including general housekeeping of office areas, engine rooms, stock areas, etc. including, cleaning floors, clean- up of spills, removing trash, organizing and maintaining tool and parts, minor building repairs, painting, mowing, trimming, etc.;
  • Interacts with producers, vendors, contractors, customers, land owners, regulatory agencies, Gas Control and various support services in a professional manner as required for efficient and reliable operations;
  • In the absence of a supervisor, may be required to act as a team leader;
  • Other tasks as required.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 2 years of technical training or experience in operation of natural gas pipeline systems is preferred;
  • Above average knowledge and experience in the use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments;
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of a handheld computer;
  • Above average ability to lift, bend, climb, and push or pull tools and equipment while accomplishing work tasks.

This position requires candidates to:

  • Work 80% outdoors;
  • Travel occasionally, including some overnight stays;
  • Receive, understand, and carry out instructions in a timely manner under diverse conditions including time constraints or adverse weather;
  • Be dependable regarding attendance, timeliness, availability for emergency response, overtime, etc.;
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and obtain DOT classification;
  • Provide a driver's abstract for review.
  • Be available for call-out and emergency response;
  • Pass respiratory fit test and required frequencies and use respiratory equipment such as SCBA, or other respirators for confined space work.
