Job Summary

Operates and maintains Natural Gas Midstream Pennant Plant, pipeline, and associated auxiliary equipment.  Acts as a mentor to plant operator and technicians; provides guidance, as necessary.  Primary responsibility involves the monitoring, operation, and maintenance of the plant, associated equipment, and fluid management.  Dependability and ability to work in a team environment are required. Must meet the residency requirement of 30 miles or 45 minutes from the assigned work location.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs work in a safe manner, including the use of required personal protective equipment in accordance with Company safety policies, procedures, and requirements. 
  • Schedules and plans work.
  • Responsible for regulatory and environmental compliance, efficient and reliable operations, with minimal outages.
  • Responsible for monitoring and minor operation and maintenance of fluid separation, containment, and processing equipment.
  • Responsible for Atmospheric Corrosion Inspection and follow-up work.
  • Performs work on rotating equipment, including gas-fired engines, gas compressors, air compressors, fans, and pumps.
  • Performs operation and maintenance work and inspections on gas and natural gas liquids processing equipment, including separation and containment, dehydration, stabilization, heat exchangers, dew point gas processing units, JT gas processing units, process heaters, and other process equipment.
  • Monitors system operation through computer control and data systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations, as required.
  • Analyzes tolerance and compliance reports, processes work requests for required follow-up work, and plans for completion to ensure compliance.
  • Performs related administrative duties associated with gas conditioning and appurtenant equipment operation and maintenance activities such as completion of written forms, records, logs, and schedules, etc.
  • Responsible for equipment monitoring, reliability-centered maintenance, and defect elimination.
  • Responsible for monitoring operating systems and maintaining constant alertness for equipment issues, temperature, pressure, vibration issues, etc., necessary to minimize outages. 
  • Responsible for general maintenance of facilities including general housekeeping of office areas, engine rooms, stock areas, etc., including, cleaning floors, clean-up of spills, removing trash, organizing, and maintaining tools and parts, minor building repairs, painting, mowing, trimming, snow removal, etc.
  • Follows Company policy on storing, sampling, disposing, and documenting waste materials.
  • Utilizes PC and/or handheld device for documentation of work, processing of required or follow-up work in the Work Management system in a timely manner.
  • Operates company vehicle.  The ability to obtain DOT driver classification may be required.
  • Interacts with producers, contractors, customers, regulatory agencies, Gas Control and Monitoring Center, and various support services in a professional manner as required for efficient and reliable operations.
  • Must be available for callouts for operation/maintenance and emergency response.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to support a team environment with the ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, customers, etc.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently in a self-directed manner.
  • Must be available for work on weekends, evenings, and holidays with non-traditional work hours.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrate a basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.  Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.
  • Above-average knowledge and /or experience in the use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Must demonstrate basic personal computer (PC) skills, including use of a handheld computer.
  • Above-average ability to understand company policies and procedures.
  • Above-average ability and physical stamina when lifting, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling tools and equipment while accomplishing tasks.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. One to two years of technical training or two years of experience in operating natural gas pipeline systems is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent process control and/or maintenance experience.
