Job Summary
The IC&E Technician position has the responsibility to maintain and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, and controls equipment and devices. This is a Union position working a steady 8-hour shift on weekdays. Successful applicants must be able to work overtime as needed to support plant operations and maintenance needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical switchgear, process controls, transmitters, analyzers, gauges, and control equipment in accordance with approved procedures and best practices, while working in a safe manner.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment such as valves, pumps, and motors in accordance with approved procedures and best practices.
- Perform preventive and corrective actions for the plant’s air monitoring systems.
- Complete assigned safety, first aid, equipment operation, and other training as assigned.
- Perform tasks related to housekeeping and maintaining plant security.
- Overtime is required for corrective maintenance in emergency situations and to fill vacancies in operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, be proficient with the use of power and precision tools and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells. Must demonstrate the ability to observe, hear, walk, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
- Must work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures.
- Problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Must have a thorough knowledge and good troubleshooting skills related to instrumentation, electrical, and process control systems.
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
- Must be able to think clearly and take appropriate actions during high stress situations, such as plant trips.
Education and Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent with trade school, military service, or other technical training. Additional professional training preferred.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in power generating facilities or process plants with equipment operating experience or equivalent.
- Combined Cycle power plant experience is preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
