Job Summary

The IC&E Technician position has the responsibility to maintain and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, and controls equipment and devices. This is a Union position working a steady 8-hour shift on weekdays. Successful applicants must be able to work overtime as needed to support plant operations and maintenance needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical switchgear, process controls, transmitters, analyzers, gauges, and control equipment in accordance with approved procedures and best practices, while working in a safe manner.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment such as valves, pumps, and motors in accordance with approved procedures and best practices.
Perform preventive and corrective actions for the plant’s air monitoring systems.
Complete assigned safety, first aid, equipment operation, and other training as assigned.
Perform tasks related to housekeeping and maintaining plant security.
Overtime is required for corrective maintenance in emergency situations and to fill vacancies in operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, be proficient with the use of power and precision tools and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells. Must demonstrate the ability to observe, hear, walk, and communicate effectively.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
Must work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures.
Problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
Must have a thorough knowledge and good troubleshooting skills related to instrumentation, electrical, and process control systems.
Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
Must be able to think clearly and take appropriate actions during high stress situations, such as plant trips.

Education and Experience

High School graduate or equivalent with trade school, military service, or other technical training. Additional professional training preferred.
5+ years of maintenance experience in power generating facilities or process plants with equipment operating experience or equivalent.
Combined Cycle power plant experience is preferred.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
