Job Summary

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of operating the natural gas gathering lines, compression facilities, cryogenic plant, and natural gas liquids line for the UGI Appalachia region (Western PA, OH, WV).  This includes budgets, human resources, training, compliance, maintenance, accounting, safety, fleet, M&R, SCADA, and electrical work.    

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, build a strong supervisory team, and promote individual growth, cooperation, and development among the operating group’s employees.   
  • Ensure all work the group performs is done safely and professionally, with the goal of zero accidents and injuries each year.
  • Ensure compliance with PHMSA 192 and 195 code requirements, including Operator Qualifications.
  • Develop and maintain the operating and capital budgets for the group to maximize revenue growth.
  • Work closely with other departments to maximize efficiency (commercial, land, environmental, business development, engineering, project management, finance, accounting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of PHMSA 192 and 195 requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments with a general understanding of each function and the ability to effectively publicly speak. 
  • Understanding of pressures, pneumatics, compression, electrical, mechanical, fluid, cathodic protection, and SCADA control systems.
  • Strong financial understanding of budgeting, accounting, and finance.
  • Ability to respond to emergency and high-stress situations at any time of day.
  • Knowledge of matters relating to land, environmental, engineering, business development, commercial and project management.
  • Understanding of SAP and other work management systems.

Education and Experience

  • BS preferred in a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience working with natural gas.
