Overview: The primary responsibility of this position is to source, identify and deliver opportunities to create and/or enhance the profitability of UGIES’ existing midstream business, as well as to conduct activities that will potentially grow the business into new geographies and product lines.  The primary area of responsibility will be western Appalachia.   Primary duties will include capital project development, customer acquisition and M&A activity.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Closely monitor the midstream business by conducting market research, preparing competitor profiles and market projections, and networking with producers, midstream companies, bankers, consultants, and other industry participants
  • Identify potential opportunities – add new customers/expand existing customer relationships, existing asset optimization/expansion, acquisitions, partnerships, new asset development, new business/product lines
  • Evaluate and screen opportunities by performing necessary market, technical and financial analysis
  • Prepare and present viable opportunities to management for review and approval
  • Coordinate with legal regarding proposals and proposed arrangements
  • Manage the implementation of opportunities:
  • New customer/expanded relationship: Negotiate and finalize agreements
  • Acquisitions: Perform due diligence, prepare financial proformas, lead negotiations and finalize agreements
  • Capital project development: Coordinate with Engineering & Project Management in developing cost estimates and schedules, prepare financial proformas, assist in project development, negotiate contracts with customers/counterparties, monitor project development
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to oversee the implementation of approved projects
  • Function as primary customer contact. Identify and mitigate client issues by managing internal processes and ensuring other parts of the organization, such as Operations, Accounting, Engineering, etc. meet the clients’ expectations. Maintain an open line of communication with our customers.
  • Overnight travel will be required. Occasional visits to producer and midstream facilities, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have overall understanding of the US natural gas and NGL businesses, including supply, trading, logistics and operations.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling of capital projects and acquisition targets
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Excellent communications skills and capable of conducting presentations to executive management and leading executive management planning sessions.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with proven ability to build and lead internal teams, develop and nurture 3rd-party relationships, and oversee the development of multiple projects.
  • Strong PC skills (proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint).


Education and Experience Required:

  • BS degree in Finance/Business/Engineering or other related discipline. MBA and/or other post-graduate education, preferred.
  • 10+ years of US midstream business development experience, preferably in Appalachia
  • Engineering experience, preferred.
