Automation Controls / SCADA Technician is responsible for configuring, testing, programming and troubleshooting of auxiliary controls, instrumentation, automation systems, plant networks, HMI systems, RTUs and PLCs at compressor stations and meter sites. Additional SCADA responsibilities include configure, maintain and support of the SCADA application and server infrastructure. The technician will provide technical reference and support for designers, I&C Technicians and Engineering that are responsible for automation, instrumentation, and control system integration/development.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possession of a valid class C driver’s license.
  • Have and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Knowledge and experience with design of control systems & Instrumentation equipment.
  • Experience with PLC ladder logic; Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley Studio5000, and FactoryTalk a plus.
  • Working knowledge in the creation and maintenance of HMI displays; Wonderware System Platform a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of local and wide area network environments; network routing and switching understanding; all layers of the OSI reference model and protocols .
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server administration and virtualization platforms/technologies/tools (VMWare, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with communication protocols, such as OPC, and network systems associated with a SCADA infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge with Computer Programming VB.Net.
  • Working knowledge of database architectures, queries, and maintenance with such database technologies as MS-SQL.
  • Must be well versed in various computer skills and common programs, the use of the MS-Office Suite, and have a working knowledge of Visio and other similar design software.
  • Strong analytical background.
  • Installation and commissioning experience.
  • Develop technical documentation for company's policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Must have good inter-personnel communication and report writing skills.
  • Participates in a high level of productivity, initiative, and teamwork.
  • Must have a positive approach to problem finding and problem-solving.


Education and Experience Required:

  • College Degree or Technical Training in Automation Technology, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience/education. 
  • A demonstrable 3 – 5 years of experience supporting PLCs, field devices such as RTUs, SCADA application platforms and networking experience.
