Job Summary
A Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)/Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of LNG and LPG equipment and systems related to ongoing LNG and LPG operations and new projects, including LNG and LPG fueling for end-use customers, portable LNG pipeline projects, and LNG and LPG peak shaving applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations/codes.
- Comply with OSHA, UGI, and other applicable safety procedures.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LNG and LPG equipment in the execution of LNG and LPG operations and projects.
- Interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and process flow diagrams (PFD).
- Fill out and maintain required activity logs per company standards and work within the company computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Interface and cooperate effectively with UGI personnel as well as customers, site representatives, inspectors, local authorities, and others involved with LNG and LPG operations and projects.
- Operate in a shift position and work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Travel in execution of UGI projects and initiatives, including off-site work assignments (extended travel with overnight stays at other facility locations).
- The ability to troubleshoot PLC and HMI issues, including communications, databases, PLC configuration, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have working knowledge Microsoft Office Suites.
- Knowledge of basic electrical construction tools, materials, and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Professional, reliable, self-directing work habits.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment related to terminal functions including vapor compressors, pumps, valves, automated equipment, etc.
- Be able to read and understand P&IDs, electrical drawings, mechanical drawings.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of SAP and computerized management system software a plus.
- Mechanical and Electrical aptitude.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree or relevant technical degree.
- At least 3 - 5 years of related experience in LNG or industrial gases.
- Valid Driver’s License, CDL-A commercial driver’s license with tank and hazardous material endorsements, a plus.
