Job Summary:  

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of plant and logistical operations associated with the Synthica St. Bernard food waste digester RNG facility located in St. Bernard, Ohio.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  directing and providing oversight to company and 3rd party operations & maintenance personnel, creating a collaborative plant culture that prioritizes safety, achieving comprehensive compliance with all governing regulations, communicating effectively with all stakeholders across the company, and ensuring optimum performance of the facility to meet or exceed financial targets. The position requires collaboration with multiple parties, including UGIES back-office support, Synthica (our joint venture partner), 3rd party contracted service providers, feedstock and waste stream counterparties, and other support resources.  

 

Essential Functions: 

•    Delivers expected results through effective leadership over facility operations and feedstock logistics. Embraces and cultivates a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement across all functional areas. 
•    Provides leadership for problem resolution to ensure ongoing operations are performed in a safe, responsible, and code compliant manner. Ensures appropriate personnel and support resources are available as required.
•    Develops and manages OPEX & CAPEX budgets and forecasts in alignment with business objectives. Achieves financial goals through optimal operational performance of the plant and responsible expense management.
•    Oversees the execution of capital projects and major maintenance activities.
•    Operates with a customer first focus and coordinates with business development team to procure feedstock at or above plant design capacity.
•    Ensures facility operates in compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and permits.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

•    Strong interpersonal, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
•    Experience with operating and troubleshooting process equipment such as pumps, heaters, compressors, conveyance systems, centrifuges, etc. 
•    Experience with operational programs and processes desired, including maintenance management systems, emergency response plans, process controls and documentation, production recordkeeping, safety       management systems, etc.
•    Knowledge of applicable OSHA and state/federal safety and environmental regulations preferred.
•    Exceptional time management and organizational skills. Ability and willingness to respond quickly to matters requiring immediate attention outside of normal business hours, albeit infrequently.
•    Solid written and verbal communications skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical matters with all levels of personnel, including plant operators, executive management, customers, local authorities, and regulators.
•    Ability to assess and analyze the technical and economic aspects of operational issues, with a strong inclination towards operational excellence and continuous improvement.
•    Computer literacy in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

•    BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering strongly preferred, or applicable experience enabling the applicant to perform the duties herein. Management training is a plus.
•    Length of Experience: 10+ years

The pay for this position ranges from $99,400.00 to 145,900.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation includes eligibility to earn a performance-based bonus or commissions on completed sales.
