Job Summary

The Instrumentation & Controls Specialist is responsible for configuring, testing, programming and troubleshooting of auxiliary controls, instrumentation, HMI’s, RTUs and PLCs at compressor stations and meter sites. The Specialist will provide technical support for SCADA/OT, I&C and Engineering personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot PLC and HMI issues, including communications, databases, PLC configuration, etc.
  • Develop or modify HMI displays and trend displays as needed
  • Assist with basic programming maintenance, including debugging, modification of existing loads, and firmware upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and maintain plant HMI computer hardware and software
  • Provide technical assistance to Operators, Technicians, and SCADA Specialist
  • Develop technical documentation for company's policies, plans, and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge and experience with control systems & instrumentation equipment
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk
  • Working knowledge in the creation and maintenance of HMI displays
  • Basic knowledge of local and wide area network environments
  • Working knowledge with communication protocols, such as OPC, Modbus, and network systems associated with a SCADA infrastructure
  • Must be well versed in various computer skills and common programs and the use of the MS-Office Suite programs
  • Strong analytical background
  • Knowledge of basic electrical construction tools, materials, and techniques
  • Working knowledge of periodic transmitter calibrations including pressure, temperature, level, process control valves and flow instrumentation, etc.
  • Installation and commissioning experience helpful
  • Participates in a high level of productivity, initiative, and teamwork
  • Must have a positive approach to problem finding and problem solving

Education and Experience

Technical training or Degree with control system PLCs or related field equivalent work experience/education.

  • Possession of a valid class C driver’s license
  • Have and maintain a clean driving record
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
