Job Summary

The Instrumentation & Controls Specialist is responsible for configuring, testing, programming and troubleshooting of auxiliary controls, instrumentation, HMI’s, RTUs and PLCs at compressor stations and meter sites. The Specialist will provide technical support for SCADA/OT, I&C and Engineering personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete required periodic transmitter calibrations at all facilities, including pressure, temperature, level, flow, gas & fire detection, etc.
  • Install, repair and maintain electrical components; motors, motor starters, VFD’s, etc.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, P&ID and other technical documents
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and documentation associated with periodic transmitter calibrations
  • Assist with basic programming maintenance and troubleshooting of systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of instrumentation and controls, including instrumentation, measurement, Flow Computers, PLCs, HMIs, etc.
  • Must be well versed in various computer skills and common programs, the use of the MS-Office Suite
  • Must have good inter-personnel communication and report writing skills
  • Participates in a high level of productivity, initiative, and teamwork
  • Must have a positive approach to problem finding and problem-solving
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical skills
  • Professional, reliable, self-directing work habits
  • Ability to travel to all UGIES facilities in western PA.

Education and Experience

  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Associate degree in instrumentation technology or related field or the equivalent of two (2) years of industry related experience
  • Valid driver’s license
