Job Summary:

The Field Technical Facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality technical and safety training to field operations employees at AmeriGas. This role facilitates classroom instruction, hands-on lab training, and skills evaluations to develop competent, safe, and operationally excellent propane delivery drivers, service technicians, and plant operators. The Field Technical Facilitator collaborates with Instructional Designers to ensure training content is accurate, current, and effective..

Essential Functions:

Facilitate Technical & Safety Training

  • Deliver classroom and lab-based instruction covering propane operations, DOT/OSHA safety compliance, bobtail delivery, service technician fundamentals, cylinder operations, and CETP/PEP certification programs to new hires and existing employees, with a consistent emphasis on safe work practices and a safety-first mindset in all training activities.

Conduct Skills Evaluations

  • Assess learner competency through structured, hands-on skills evaluations in a lab setting; document results accurately in the LMS and communicate outcomes to the Sr. Training Manager – Field Operations and relevant stakeholders.

Support Curriculum Development

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in collaboration with Instructional Designers to review, update, and validate training materials, ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with current field operations practices.

Manage Training Records & LMS Administration

  • Maintain accurate training attendance, completion, and evaluation records in the Learning Management System (LMS); monitor learner progress and generate reports to support compliance tracking and program effectiveness reviews.

Evaluate & Improve Training Effectiveness

  • Gather and analyze learner feedback and assessment data to evaluate training effectiveness; provide actionable recommendations to the Sr. Training Manager – Field Operations and Instructional Designers to continuously improve program quality and learner outcomes.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Deep technical knowledge of propane operations including bobtail delivery, service technician procedures, cylinder operations, and bulk plant/terminal operations.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations (49 CFR), OSHA safety standards, NFPA 54 & 58, and CETP/PEP certification requirements applicable to propane distribution.
  • Proven facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to deliver complex technical content clearly and effectively to diverse adult learners in both classroom and hands-on lab settings.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and practical experience applying instructional best practices in multi-day, skills-based training programs.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for tracking attendance, managing completions, and generating training reports; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic project management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan and coordinate multi-day training sessions, manage scheduling logistics, track learner progress, and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.      
  • Excellent active listening skills with the ability to identify learner confusion, address questions effectively, recognize skill gaps in real time, and adapt facilitation approach to meet individual and group needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Length of Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in propane field operations, including roles in delivery, service, or plant operations. Prior experience delivering multi-day technical or safety training strongly preferred.
