Manager - Strategic Pricing

Job Summary (Purpose):

Manages Strategic Pricing through advanced analytics and analysis to monitor and build new tools to enhance Strategic Pricing to achieve improved pricing outcomes through use of demographic data and advanced algorithms. Works closely with BI team to understand market dynamics to incorporate customer retention risk factors to develop a win/loss for customer price quoting processes. Focuses on key initiatives as given by Group Director to improve on the existing strategic pricing framework built.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Planning – As directed develops and implements AmeriGas centralized pricing strategies. Effectively works with Business Intelligence, Information Technology and Advanced Analytics teams to develop, enhance, maintain and ensure the centralized AmeriGas pricing framework is functioning as designed.  Manages and owns all functional aspects of AmeriGas proprietary pricing algorithms (CSP) and associated systems (profitability analysis, segmentation refresh, etc.).  Develops sound recommendations to reduce price leakage and optimize price performance within the pricing framework. 
  • Business Intelligence – Work collaboratively with Operations and Advanced Analytics teams to understand market dynamics at the macro and micro level.  Partners with the Advanced Analytics team to develop and automatically incorporate customer retention risk factors and customer demographics into existing pricing algorithms.  Develops customer win/loss data to inform new customer price quoting process. 
  • Program Adoption and Execution – Works collaboratively with both field management and sales and marketing teams to develop and execute programs, tools and change management strategies that achieve operational and sales support while achieving agreed upon goals.
  • Field Training – Works with Pricing Managers, Training department and regional teams to provide excellent customer service and training, as requested/required.  



Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Advanced analytical ability, assimilate large amounts of data and convert into actionable recommendations.  
  • Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization. 
  • Handles multiple assignments, meets critical deadlines.
  • Uses analytical work to blend with operational results.  
  • Strong IT and computer skills a must – understanding of SAS, JMP, Access, SQL and advanced Excel modeling. Adapts quickly to new systems and tools.  



Education and Experience Required: 


  • BA/BS degree, MBA preferred, with concentration in Strategy, Pricing, Statistics, Finance, Economics or Marketing
  • 7+ years of professional experience; 3+ years specializing in Pricing and/or Strategy 
  • Experience with Business Intelligence, SAP and other data warehouses.  
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C environments a plus.  
  • Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) a plus
