Job Summary
The Director – Human Resources partners with key business leaders on opportunities to leverage people to meet AmeriGas’ strategic plans across the field and corporate office. Will provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of HR Business Partners/Managers in the functional areas of employee and labor relations, policy review/compliance, workforce planning, engagement, and represent the business and employee pulse in other aspects of HR.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Recommends and implements best in class HR practices across the business unit to support business objectives, strategic priorities and company philosophy while partnering with the relevant HR function within the global HR matrix.
- Provide HR support and consultation to management regarding employee relations issues and direct activities related to investigations, employee complaints, discipline, reduction in force & terminations.
- Proactively identifies key business issues and the related people, organizational and cultural implications. Creates and drives effective programs to optimize employee engagement and retention, monitors trends, and makes timely recommendations/takes action to improve the employee experience, boost retention and maintain morale.
- Partner with global HR team to develop and implement new HR Policies and Procedures necessary to meet Company goals.
- Direct Company’s labor relations activities including contract negotiations and interpretation, grievances and arbitrations through the Labor Relations Business Partner.
- Partner with relevant stakeholders within AmeriGas and the global HR function to ensure legal compliance with applicable laws and labor regulations and maintain company policies and procedures and communicate changes as applicable to employees.
- Translates business workforce planning needs and partners with Talent Acquisition on hiring and onboarding actions to reduce talent gaps
- Partner with global Total Rewards organization to help administer compensation and benefits related programs and initiatives and provide input on related processes.
- Drives organizational performance through attracting, engaging and developing employees while administering talent development, succession planning, performance management and learning and development programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have ability to communicate with and influence diverse customer base including all employee levels and outside labor and legal representatives
- Technical HR knowledge (breadth and depth) through education and hands on experience
- Consultative expertise is required
- Must be capable of operating successfully within corporate, call center and field focused environments and tailor approach based on the varying employee needs.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration or other appropriate discipline
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a business partner and leadership HR role
- Experience in a Labor or Union environment preferred
- Strong problem solving, conflict resolution and collaboration skills.
Working conditions:
- Normal Office conditions
- Extensive travel, some planned in advance, some with little or no prior notice
