Job Summary:


The Cloud Services Architect role will participate in defining and developing functional end-to-end business solutions, architectural compliance, and technical implementations as it relates to cloud services delivery that brings Amerigas businesses forward.  This position will need to have strong experience in Cloud services technologies within platforms such as Amazon (AWS), Azure, Google and others (as necessary). 

The Cloud Architect is a key role within the Amerigas Infrastructure group to enable business journey to leverage cloud and develop a hybrid cloud / bimodal operating model.  In this role the Cloud Architect engages closely with business, IT customers along with and external partners/vendors and other business units to develop and execute innovative and competitive solutions and specific project deliverables. This position will be expected to operate at any point within a project / Operational, from proposal review/assessments through to the delivery or transformation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Regularly evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software in support of business growth, demand or enhancements
  • Develop and organize cloud systems, resources, subscriptions, etc. in sustaining current and future platforms
  • Work closely with other IT groups (i.e. IT security to monitor the company's cloud privacy)
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
  • Identify top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the business.
  • Effectively manage and assign projects as necessary while lending support to the team.
  • Actively troubleshoot issues during testing and remediating prior to production launch.
  • Test system integrity, implemented designs, application developments and other processes related to infrastructure, making improvements as needed.
  • Automate our operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements.
  • Assist in establishing DevOps team best practices.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Expert knowledge and certifications in either AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Understanding of Hybrid Cloud solutions and experienced in integrating public cloud into traditional hosting/delivery models
  • Experience with executing quick technical feasibility and proposed development for moving identified workloads to Azure/AWS 
  • Building and recommending a migration approach to lift and shift the workloads to Azure /AWS
  • Identity and Network integration experience with AWS Direct Connect or Azure Express route integration and network design (LAN/WAN/Firewalls)
  • Thorough background on general infrastructure components.

 

Education & Experience Required:

 

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) architecture certification
  • 5-7 Years of experience in IT working with cloud platforms that directly aligns with the responsibilities for this position. (Required)
  • Designed, integrated and deployed complex cloud solutions.
  • Strong Cloud architecture expertise
