Job Summary
Job Summary:
Supervise regional transportation operations with direct oversight of Transportation Coordinators and drivers (company employees and contractors). Manage transportation activities for safety, financial performance, customer service, and operational efficiency. Maintain regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal authorities. Oversee regional operations generating $8mm annually with 100+ transport drivers, related assets, and common carrier management.

Duties and Responsibilities
Safety-
Promote AmeriGas/PTI safety culture ensuring World Class Safety focus
Maintain regular contact with PTI drivers (verbal and written)
Monitor transportation telematics including Hours of Service and speed violations
Review driving events; coach and mentor drivers on incidents
Ensure proper training per regulations, standards, and company policies
Enforce Personal Protective Equipment policy compliance
Accident/Incident Investigation-
Coordinate with Manager of Safety and Regional Logistics Manager on incident mitigation
Follow required reporting notifications
Support ATM and RLM on personal injury incidents
Participate in investigations and provide documentation
Transportation Operations Management-
Supervise daily operations; monitor customer inventory and transport fuel schedules
Ensure accurate, prompt data entry for fuel schedules, freight charges, and trucking costs
Minimize operating costs; manage loaded/empty mile ratio; optimize fleet assets
Execute Supply and Transportation plan; communicate changes to ASM and ATM
Dispatch drivers per DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations
Communicate daily with drivers, terminals, and customers regarding loads, deliveries, and needs
Monitor metrics to achieve operational targets
Act as first-line supervisor when ATM is absent
Support customer special projects
Partner with Transport Sales on third-party hauling
Participate in annual budget preparation including capital projects
Ensure regulatory compliance; verify drivers and equipment are licensed and permitted
Perform Transportation Coordinator duties when needed (dispatch planning/execution, driver payroll, daily tasks)
Coordinate with ASM, RLM, and Manager of Rail to support monthly budgeted gallons
Communicate transportation issues to internal and external customers proactively
Supervise performance objectives for coordinators and drivers; conduct evaluations, review merit-distribution, approve as needed, initiate coaching/corrective actions
Work with Manager of Safety on training compliance
Field Assets Management-
Collaborate with RLM, AmeriGas corporate fleet, and Houston Operations on fleet readiness
Coordinate trailer refurbishments and inventory controls with RLM
Manage AmeriGas SharePoint for driver equipment information
Coordinate equipment lease agreements with Director Supply Chain Operations; ensure timely return of expired leases
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strategic planning and operational knowledge of highway transportation in supply chain
Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and Hours of Service
Experience with trucking economics including P&L statements
Management experience with diverse work groups; knowledge of Federal labor laws
Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills for team/supply chain environments
Strong communication skills (effective and professional)
Proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft Office)
Education, Experience, and Working Conditions
Bachelor's degree in Business Management/Logistics (preferred) OR 4 years management/supervisory experience
4+ years relevant experience in transportation management or central dispatch operations
