Job Summary

The Payroll Accountant will work across the UGI Family of Companies as a key member of the payroll team.  Will be responsible for posting and reconciling payroll journal entries, assist with monthly/quarterly/annual audit processes, and investigate and research tax issues.  Will be viewed as an expert in federal, state, and local tax requirements and notify the payroll team of changes.   Acts as the liaison and point of contact for finance teams on G/L and other payroll related items.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Analyzes, audits, reconciles and resolves complex tax issues
•    Researches and interprets federal and state regulatory requirements, responds to works agency inquiries, and resolves tax and withholding issues for payroll processing 
•    Performs biweekly balancing of taxes submitted and addresses setup of new jurisdictions at the State and local levels and ADP.
•    Performs quarterly and annual balancing of wage and tax reports. Finds and corrects errors in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of payroll tax withholding, minimizing potential penalties.
•    Acts as a liaison between UGI and ADP to ensure accurate and timely tax reports, system integrity, works pending items to resolution, and accurately communicates any issues to the payroll manager. 
•    Verifies new tax rates are setup correctly in SAP EC Payroll and ADP
•    Coordinates with finance to ensure the accuracy of payroll codes and general ledger account mapping in relationship to the payroll processed each pay period. 
•    Conducts quarterly payroll G/L account reconciliation and posts required journal entries including cash and intercompany

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Excellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues
•    Experience in interfacing with business customers and 3rd party service providers like ADP
•    Strong written and oral communication skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio

Education and Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent level of knowledge in a relevant field
•    APA and/or CPP certifications are preferred
•    3+ years of practical experience relating to payroll tax and general ledger
•    2+ years of experience with SAP Payroll and/or ADP
