Job Summary

The Office of the CIO Partnership position reports to the Director, Office of the CIO, providing leadership for the cross-functional management of information and technology across the enterprise. This role serves as the point person for partners outside of IT, primarily Procurement, Finance and HR partners (“Partners”) to utilize consistent internal processes. The role is also centered on building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across these business partner functions, the Office of the CIO, and the broader IT organization.




This role at a minimum oversees the following partner functions:


  • Finance: Engage with IT Finance Partners to drive transparency and reporting consistency for technology-related costs and financials; provide both business units and IT departments with a common framework to evaluate services and plan for future investments in a manner that optimizes IT spending.
  • Procurement: Engage with Procurement Partners to perform tasks that comply with defined procurement policies and practices, support UGI Procurement and IT goals to maximize supplier performance and foster collaboration via effective vendor management.
  • HR: Engage with HR to guide career path, succession planning and compensation across IT to drive retention, career development and access to the best talent that meets UGI needs.
  • Connect the IT leadership teams and various partners outside of IT (internal and external) to ensure alignment and common direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Director, Office of the CIO in providing vision and direction for the OCIO function and the broader IT organization
  • Continually engage with the Finance Partner and related functions/stakeholders to oversee and support IT Finance needs including, but not limited to, IT budgeting, forecasting, spend tracking, metrics & reporting, cost allocations and optimization in collaboration with the Finance Partner and IT leadership. 
  • Define and continually engage with the Procurement Partner and related functions/stakeholders on requirements and templates to support ongoing management of global IT sourcing, vendor selection, contracts management, vendor management, and escalation/exception processes. Leverage relationships with existing vendors and interact with prospective vendors on various matters including contractual discussions, requests for proposal, vendor assessments, and information gathering activities, among others.
  • Define and continually engage with the HR Partner and related functions/stakeholders on requirements and templates for identifying resource and employee requirements, recruiting, career path and development planning, identification of high potential employees, succession planning, onboarding/off boarding, contractor planning and management.
  • Build and strengthen relationships between internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, business partners across UGI, IT and business leadership, and the OCIO function to meet UGI IT needs
  • Build and/or enhance OCIO processes and operational efficiencies by through performance management, metrics, feedback gathering and process improvements
  • Additional duties as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership capabilities, independently executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility.
  • Hands on experience in budget planning, forecasting, IT spend management, and other IT financial management concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to support IT financial management tasks as well as departmental metrics reporting in collaboration with business partners as appropriate
  • Ability to identify and drive process and operational efficiencies, service delivery and information management across the IT organization
  • Adaptability to prioritize and proactively manage multiple tasks/activities effectively and deliver as an individual contributor as necessary
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all levels in the organization, and explain technology solutions in business terms as necessary.
  • Proven ability to build and foster relationships, establish rapport and persuade others

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in the fields of computer science, engineering, business administration or related field; graduate degree in one these fields is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten or more years in IT and business/industry
  • Including a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience
  • Experience in one or more areas of Finance, Procurement and/or HR.
