The Manager, Treasury will be responsible for advanced analysis related to corporate finance, F/X and interest rate hedging as well as special projects. The Manager will prepare reporting, and have ownership over selected areas within treasury operations (e.g. cash forecasting). Additional areas of responsibility include counterparty credit analysis and reporting, compliance with debt covenants and financial support for pension/401k.  The position will prepare key corporate metrics like Cost of Capital and support lease financing decisions. The position will design and recommend strategies related to corporate finance, cash management and hedging in consultation and agreement with the Director, Treasury to whom s/he reports. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Corporate Financing

  • Analysis on strategies and policies regarding company capital structure (e.g. target financial leverage, target credit ratings, preferred cash flow levels, etc.)
  • Recommend preferred financing products (debt, equity, hybrid) for a given need like an acquisition or refinancing
  • Analyzes financing structures and their impact on cost of capital, cash, EPS, and financial ratios
  • Prepare Board materials requiring authorized approval

 

Liquidity and Cash Management Function

  • Cash management analytics including enhancements to the short-term and long-term cash forecasting process and optimize corporate banking fees as well as acting as the backup for daily cash management functions
  • Manage special projects related to cash management products and services

 

Hedging and Compliance Activities

  • Analysis related to FX and Interest Rate hedges placed by Treasury group, assist with ISDAs and Dodd-Frank compliance efforts for hedging relationships
  • Coordinate and monitor the compliance of financial hedging programs with UGI’s risk management policies
  • Preparation and monitoring of Debt Compliance across UGI businesses

 

Credit Activities

  • Analyze and document the credit quality of banks, broker and other counterparties involved in hedging transactions and recommend appropriate credit limit
  • Research and analysis related to counterparty credit review process, including preparation of counterparty credit reports and tracking of corporate-wide exposures
  • Monitor counterparties for any deterioration in financing condition or rating

 

Other Activities

  • Monitor the overall cost of capital, including the preparation of the annual weighted-average cost of capital for all business units
  • Issuance of letters of credit
  • Support and analysis related to retirement plans and the Retirement Plan Investment Committee

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • BA (or equivalent) emphasizing Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred
  • Certified Treasury Professional or related certification a plus
  • Minimum of 6 years plus experience in Treasury
  • Knowledge of corporate finance theory and techniques, including but not limited to:  internal rate of return; present value analysis, currency and interest rate risk management, total return analysis, and lease vs. buy analysis
  • Understanding of cash management practices including disbursement and collection systems, bank compensation, short and long-term liquidity management and forecasting, online banking portals and treasury management software applications
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with senior management at UGI and its operating subsidiaries
  • Ability to communicate complex results and recommendations through oral and written means and the ability to respond quickly to senior management requests
  • Ability to identify problems and respond quickly with resolutions
  • Knowledge of banking practices and procedures, financial instruments, financing alternatives, loan covenant structures and associated documentation
  • Understand the basic tenets of federal income tax regulations and US GAAP
  • Familiarity with internal and external UGI reporting
  • Knowledge of equipment leasing practices including lease vs. buy analysis, lease structuring techniques, and lease documentation requirements
