Manages monthly accounting close for UGI Holding and other entities managed by Corporate; intercompany cost allocations; certain of UGI International’s holding companies, including a holding company with external third-party debt, complex derivative transactions and foreign currency transactions.  Prepares and reviews various internal management reports to senior management and business unit management.  Supervises and maintains the accounts payable function, including employee expense reporting. Maintains and supervises the use of the project accounting system for UGI Corporation (Holding Co) and certain UGI International entities. Coordinates the assessment of internal controls and procedures for financial reporting under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for responsible processes.  Acts as backup resource for an HFM administrator function. Supports various ad-hoc projects for all UGI entities as needed.


Job Responsibilities:


UGI International:

  •  Manage the close process for UGI Internatinonal, LLC and selected subsidiaries. This may include performing functions such as creating and posting journal entries and closing the books.  Review the monthly analysis of account balances; and prepare and review special analysis when required by management.
  • Perform accounting and reporting functions related to third-party debt, derivative and foreign currency transactions executed at UGI International, LLC.  Prepare quarterly reporting and SOX requirements related to hedges.
  • Manage the allocation of charges to International entities, including the approval, review and reporting processes to assure accuracy, visibility to all key stakeholders and compliance against established agreements and policies.  This will require frequent collaboration with other departments at UGI Corp and International stakeholders. 


UGI Holding Company Accounting:

  • Manage the UGI Holding Company close process.  Review the monthly analysis of account balances and bank reconciliations; and prepare, and review special analysis when required by management. Assure compliance with SOX 404.
  • Calculate the Modified Wisconsin Formula (MWF) for the allocation of UGI Holding Company expenses annually. Complete annual tax package for UGI Holding Company.
  • Review journal entries and related support for UGI Holding Company close including those prepared by HR to ensure reasonableness.
  • Manage accounting for corporate acquisition and capital projects, which includes project setup, GL support and periodic analysis.  This would require interdepartmental collaboration with PMO and other specified project leaders. 
  • Supervise and maintain the accounts payable function including employee expense reporting.


Management and Project Reporting: 

  • Prepare monthly and Quarterly management reporting including the Flash Report, Management Report, Corp. & other segment analysis and ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • The reporting process requires significant collaboration with FP&A, Tax, and Business Unit Accounting teams.


HFM Administrator: 

  • Act as a backup resource to function as an HFM administrator in conjunction with the HFM manager.  This would require cross-functional training in gaining expertise in HFM; perform certain HFM administrator tasks on a periodic basis; support system implementation and/or upgrades.


Other Duties:    

  • Other miscellaneous tasks and projects assigned to the position.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • MBA, CPA or Masters in Accounting preferred.
  • Requires sound knowledge of GAAP and International Accounting issues. Ability to interpret Sarbanes Oxley requirements, adapt and implement key procedures, provide and maintain documentation is required
  • Minimum 7 years of accounting experience
  • Requires sound knowledge of GAAP and International Accounting issues. Ability to interpret Sarbanes Oxley requirements, adapt and implement key procedures, provide and maintain documentation is required.
  • Experience in SAP and HFM preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel.
  • This position also requires an individual who is flexible and is able to meet critical deadlines.
  • Must be detail oriented, work well under pressure, work well independently and as part of a team, have the ability to analyze problems and make decisions and be sensitive to multiple perspectives.
  • Must communicate effectively to personnel throughout the company.
