Job Summary
This role will focus on overseeing and coordinating the preparation and maintenance of records to support the Company’s PP&E balances; this includes preparation of monthly journal entries, closing and reconciliation of fixed asset subledger, recording of assets and retirements, lease accounting, sale of property correspondence with operational personnel related to assets, preparation of PP&E reporting for management and regulatory agencies, and variance flux analysis.
This role is also responsible for cylinder inventory management, closing and reconciliation of GL account information pertaining to property plant and equipment, leases, supporting Management, Regulatory & Financial Reporting, and maintaining lease master data within the designated Lease Accounting software. Participate with future sate process and policy alignment to enable finance transformation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Fixed Asset & lease Coordinator: Coordinate the fixed asset and leasing month-end close activities and reporting.
- Month-end Accounting: Prepare balance sheet and income statement variance analysis for plant accounts, standard and non-recurring journal entries associated, account reconciliations for management review.
- SOX Compliance: Perform, document and or review internal controls under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for responsible processes including working with external auditors to address requests associated with areas of responsibility.
- Debt Compliance: Monitor and report on debt compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to covenants and reporting obligations.
- Special Projects: Lead and support ad hoc projects, including systems implementations and cross-functional process improvements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Accounting Expertise: Applied advanced knowledge of US GAAP including technical accounting principles and Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements to perform key controls over financial reporting.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to think critically to envision future state processes and coordinate accounting and cross functional initiatives and projects.
- Organization, Time, and Project Management: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Process Documentation/Interviewing: Curious with natural ability to ask questions and outline a process to identify inefficiencies and determine improvement opportunities to streamline workflows.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Proven experience in process improvement and managing complex accounting processes.
Work Environment
- Hybrid work arrangement – 3 days per week in office.
