The Director - Procurement Center of Excellence is responsible for leading a Procurement COE team that provides both strategic leadership and tactical services to drive the Global Procurement function in its achievement of its vision to be a high performing, critical business partner delivering superior value for our Customers, Employees, and Suppliers.  Key priorities center around (1) delivering ROI procurement value aligned to UGI’s business, (2) being recognized as UGI’s trusted advisor of choice respected & trusted for commercial acumen and management, and (3) creating a great place to work, known for career development in and outside UGI. 


Job Responsibilities:


Accountabilities include establishing framework of strategies, plans, governance, policies, processes, and tools. These accountabilities covering the following key areas:



Strategy, Planning, & Performance

  • Designs process and guides Procurement leaders in development of vision, strategy, planning and performance management and monitoring.




  • Policies, procedures, tools, and templates, including design of controls to monitor and intervene in key compliance risk areas


Supplier Risk Management 


  • Defines framework of key supplier risks, risk owners and their risk assessment/qualification/monitoring controls


Procurement Technology  


  • Procurement technology roadmap to guide the selection, enhancements, and utilization of technology, including SAP Ariba, ERPs, data analytics tools, etc.


Contract Management  


  • In coordination with our internal business units and functional areas such as Legal, Insurance, ESG, etc, COE establishes requirements within the contracts management process and its enabling tool (Ariba Contract Management)


Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)


  • Supplier lifecycle management including supplier performance reviews, qualification and risk management requirements, communications, change management, and ESG requirements


Talent Management


  • Primary interface with HR to implement talent development, training, recruitment, succession planning, and other HR programs


Ad Hoc 


  • Perform additional tasks as assigned and defined by the CPO and VP, Head of Global Procurement



Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience leading the development and implementation of a COE, and deep procurement/business transformation experience including integrated digital, data, process and talent transformations. Work experience to include proven performance in best-practice governance (policies, procedures, tools, templates, data, performance and compliance reporting), procurement process redesign and improvement, eProcurement systems (SAP-Ariba/Coupa/iValua etc.), risk management, communications and change management, spend management, strategic sourcing, and category management (consulting and corporate experience is preferred)
  • Strong program management, project management and leadership experience within a transforming procurement or supply chain organization, or COE
  • Strategic sourcing experience and capabilities such as: Commodity/category spend management, Source-to-pay (Source-to-contract and procure-to-pay), Supplier negotiations, Supplier management, Supply chain, and strong understanding of supply chain concepts including strategic inventory management
  • Clear and solid understanding of, and practical experience with, strategy, planning and performance, spend management (e.g., Ariba, Analysis & Reports) and enterprise resource planning systems and tools (SAP/Oracle), Procurement analytics and relevant KPI’s
  • Proficient in the use of ERP packages (e.g. SAP preferred), eProcurement packages (e.g. Ariba preferred) other purchasing software, and working knowledge of the MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Outlook
  • Results-driven mindset and capabilities, adept at resource prioritization, target setting, budgeting and business case development
  • Motivated, high-energy, curious self-starter, strong business mindset; proven change agent with excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with comfort working cross-functionally to gather information and resolve conflicts
  • Team leadership skills capable of managing a team process to meet defined objectives
  • Sharp analytical skills and the ability to quickly obtain relevant information
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to proactively manage key issues
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence senior management and critical stakeholders and to communicate the group’s vision and accomplishments
  • Ability to make informed decisions with incomplete data sets; demonstrates a bias for action and strong sense of urgency

  • Must have the ability to represent the Company in diverse forums, and the ability to build diverse teams
