Job Summary
The Director – FP&A and Strategy helps UGI Finance teams build capabilities to enhance performance, planning activities, data analytics, and business partnering to enable and accelerate value creation. By combining operational FP&A experience, data analysis and problem-solving skills, this role develops insights, tools and processes to deliver solutions that establish and refine the organization’s corporate and growth strategies.
This role leads a team that is responsible for Analyzing the strategic, operating and financial impacts of internal business proposals or external business development opportunities by developing recommendations and creating and maintaining detailed financial models to support the long-term planning process as well as business cases for major projects/investments. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to investigate, analyze and make recommendations to Executive Leadership in support of various initiatives and the corporation’s overall strategy-setting process.
In addition, this role will be responsible for managing our capital allocation program and working towards optimization using historical and future outlooks, including oversight of the governance of the UGI Corporation Investment Committee. This role will work on various enterprise initiatives and synthesize data as well as partnering with senior internal stakeholders to support their strategic initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Leadership Team in UGI’s short and long-term strategy-setting processes.
- Develop financial and analytic models at various granularity levels to drive operational, growth and transactional insights. Ensure the modeling accuracy while enhancing the existing models quality.
- Interface with senior leaders and develop cross-functional relationships across the business to identify key insights and draw conclusions impactful to the organization’s strategic direction.
- Evaluate the company, using various financial valuation methods, such as DCF, capital structure analysis etc. and monitor the competitive landscape to identify and prioritize opportunities, including tracking companies, identifying market trends, and potentially interacting with various sources for competitive and regulatory intelligence.
- Conduct scenario analysis based on microeconomic and macroeconomic factors to access business risk and provide strategic analysis and insights, identify enterprise-level issues and opportunities.
- Conduct financial and business due diligence to assist with various investment and growth decisions.
- Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis with the intent to support investment activities.
- Manage the Investment Committee Governance and capital allocation program to ensure optimization.
- Construct impactful reports and presentations – through the use of various analytical tools, including PBCS, and various Microsoft financial software applications – that enhance key stakeholders’ understanding of business trends and drivers, promote proactive decision-making and efficient and detailed financial analysis.
- Assist VP in synthesizing and evaluating business and function strategies and analyze the enterprise-level impact.
- Other adhoc work as needed to support senior management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent, financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Ability to collect, summarize and synthesize financial and business data into usable and actionable information.
- Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Strong and proven ability to plan, organize and prioritize own workload, and to manage the workload of others to ensure deadlines are met.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills required. This position will interact with all levels of Management, particularly the CFO and CEO.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and the interaction between the P&L, B/S and cash flow.
Education and Experience
- BS/BA in quantitative field of study such as finance, economics or engineering.
- Minimum 10+ years of financial planning and analysis and financial modeling capabilities.
- CPA or MBA required.
