Business Process Risk & Controls Analyst

Mountaineer Gas Company is the largest natural gas distribution company in West Virginia with over 220,000 customers and 450 employees. We service fifty (50) of the fifty-five (55) counties in West Virginia and maintain close to 6,000 miles of pipeline.

Job Summary


We are currently recruiting in our Corporate office, Charleston, WV, for a Business Process Risk & Controls Analyst. 

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Evaluate the design and test the operating effectiveness of key internal controls and identify potential process gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with facilitation and the timely maintenance of formal supporting documentation for the company’s internal control framework including, but not limited to, process narratives, process flow diagrams, and risk/control matrices (RCMs).
  • Assist in efforts to modernize, build competencies and identify efficiencies in existing business process and controls environment.
  • Identify, report and test the remediation of identified control deficiencies.
  • Communicate with external and internal auditors regarding risk and control-related matters
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as regulatory research and filings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. 
  • Proficient at intermediate/advanced level in Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  
  • Requires ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and business periodicals; ability to write reports and effectively present information; and ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.


  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, preferably in public accounting, public company financial reporting, SOX compliance, or finance. 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance rules (sections 302 and 404 in particular).
