Summary:

The incumbent will test, maintain and calibrate substation and distribution lines of equipment.  Assist in the operation, maintenance and construction of all substations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Test and adjust substation equipment and distribution line equipment including power transformers, circuit breakers, relays, instrument transformers, reclosers, capacitor controls.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and modify substation control, metering and telemetry equipment as required due to failure and changes in system needs.
  • Update equipment maintenance records. Prepare purchase orders and assist in the planning and scheduling of outages for inspection, maintenance, and testing of substation facilities.
  • Assist in the supervision of substation maintenance and construction work.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of substation design and layout
  • Knowledge of switching procedures and safety-related work practices
  • Knowledge of Oracle/SAP purchasing system
  • Familiarity with of substation equipment, materials and inventory
  • Knowledge of UGI compliance plans for federal and state regulatory agencies (NERC/RFC - PRC, PUC - I&M Standards)
  • Experience in operating specialized test equipment (Doble Set, TTR, Multi-Amp and OMICRON test sets, Ductor, Oscilloscope, Control test set, insulating oil test set, Megger, speed analyzer and a variety of instruments and meters
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair defective substation equipment

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • At least 3-5 years

 

Working Conditions:

  • 30% - Regular office conditions
  • 70% - Travel and job site risk exposure and work environment.
  • Must work in high voltage electrical substation where exposure to active high/medium/low voltage substation environments is routine. On call (24/7) and available to work outside normal work hours in response to job demand, equipment availability, and system/equipment emergencies as required.
