Job Summary

Design new and replacement measurement and regulation facilities. Support area engineering and new business departments with meter set, farm tap, take station and regulator station design. Support operations and M&R with maintenance and initial set up activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design budgeted replacement and betterment measurement and regulation facilities. Generate designs and construction drawings and procedures that comply with federal, state, local and company codes and procedure manuals. Identity and apply for necessary permits. Coordinate projects with local operations and M&R personnel to ensure resources and materials are forecast for completion in budgeted year.  Support field personnel during construction. Review as-built documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop and implement standard designs for measurement and regulation facilities. Generate and maintain template drawings that can be used throughout the UGI service territories by various departments. Drawings will include sizing guidelines for various components that are flow or pressure dependent.
  • Perform relief capacity verification calculations for all regulator stations in service territory. Identify any that may need to be remediated and design and implement the changes. Complete calculation review and remediations prior to regulatory and GOM deadlines.
  • Review existing station designs for capacity constraints. Identify limiting factors and determine timeline for implementation. Work with system planning to include proposed load changes and system reinforcement projects. Work with network analysis department to have gate station and regulator station facilities properly modeled.
  • Represent the company at construction and/or utility meetings with state, municipalities, contractors, developers, etc.  Support local engineering and new business departments with measurement and regulation inquiries and designs.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Title 49 CFR 192 Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline: Minimum Federal Safety Standard.
  • Knowledge of company procedure manuals (guidelines for design, installation, and maintenance).
  • Knowledge and fluency using AutoCAD or other computer aided drafting software.
  • Knowledge of construction practices.
  • Demonstrate ability to multitask to attain short term and long-term goals.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with preference for Mechanical or Civil focus
  • 4 years or more in natural gas industry preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
