Job Summary

On an independent and self-directed basis, provide engineering and operating support on preserving the Electric Division’s Transmission system capability to serve both new and existing customers in a reliable, safe, and economic manner. Monitor and develop strategies to increase the Electric Division’s T&D system reliability and maintain reliability reports/filings. Serve as the Company’s representative on the EHV administrative committee and represent the Company on various industry groups including PJM, PUC, EAPA, and benchmarking panels.

 

**This position is fully onsite 5 days a week in Wilkes-Barre, PA.**

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Electric Division’s Reliability Engineer. Track reliability data, investigate reliability issues, assist with the development of responses to various industry reliability reports, respond to PUC reliability related data requests, review and suggest reliability solutions. Work with OMS and Distribution SCADA SME’s to develop tools & reports to gather reliability data. Responsible for updating and maintaining the Electric Division’s reliability filings and internal reliability reports.  Lead the Electric Division’s Reliability Group and participate on various reliability committees
  • Serve as lead transmission planning engineer and backup to the distribution planner. Maintain the transmission planning model and perform seasonal short and long term planning studies to identify system deficiencies and the impact of planned and emergency switching. Work with the lead distribution planner to identify and prioritize long-term T&D system improvement projects. Represent UGI electric division on PJM planning and SRTEP committees and modeling working groups. 
  • Provide Operational Support to the System Operations Department by reviewing all transmission related switching requests, performing analysis as needed. Assist in the interconnection process for transmission interconnections. Perform system analysis on proposed interconnection projects evaluating system reliability and performance. 
  • Serve as primary representative on EHV administrative committee. Represent the Company on various industry groups including EAPA and PUC committees and technical working groups. Act as the Electric Utility’s lead contact for benchmarking requests and participate on benchmarking panels.
  • Participate in the Distribution Automation efforts and perform other special projects as assigned. Assist in restoring service to customers after storms and other system trouble.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of experience in electric utility operations including considerable experience applying principles, practices and procedures of engineering and project management.
  • Knowledge of Electric Utility regulations and compliance requirements. 
  • Knowledge of UGI’s construction standards, interconnection methods, and equipment as well as UGI’s Safety Rules.
  • Possesses an understanding of UGI’s Planning and Operating principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from start to completion. Must be able to adapt standard practices to meet unique customer needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good public relations and interpersonal skill and ability to organize and deploy resources effectively.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering or BS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
