Job Summary

Provide local field support for employee occupational health and safety, including crew site visits, program and policy support, training and coaching to improve employee safety capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor and support assigned geographical territory in Safety enhancement by assisting in safety committees, completing incident investigations, review of Intellishift coaching videos, delivering safety communications and completing on average 6-8 field/crew visits per month. 
  • Write, review and update Company Health and Safety policies or communications with support from team, supervisor and other subject matter experts.
  • In order to enhance UGI’s capacity to mitigate high-energy exposure, proactively identify high energy hazards and corresponding direct controls at crew visits and document on crew visit log sheet.  Also classify submitted incidents and near misses / good catches according to SCL Model.
  • In support of Company goals, deliver Smith driver safety training in collaboration with driver safety trainer and support other targeted Safety trainings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • OSHA/DOT regulations.
  • Construction/Utility industry knowledge.
  • Technical knowledge of health and safety regulations, OSHA rules, ability to translate technical regulatory requirements into operational compliance programs.
  • Train, Present, Speak in front of groups.
  • Hazard recognition & resolution.
  • Effective at operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or in technical field or combined equivalent of education and experience preferred.
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in safety or in gas, electric utility/pipeline/transmission or construction safety preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) preferred but not required.
