Responsible for managing both internal and external customer relationships and contracts with respect to the contracted utility workforce, operational regulatory requirements such as safety and emergency management. Serve as the primary interface between UGI Electric and the PUC Electric Safety Division.  Serve as the UGI Electric Division's Reliability Engineer


Principle Accountabilities:

  • Act as UGI Electric Division's primary contact with the PUC Electric Safety Division (ESD). Responsible for preparing and filing responses to ESD data requests and supporting the Division's overall ESD compliance efforts. Perform compliance audits and inspections.  Participate on related industry groups and associations.
  • Responsible for all contractor pre-qualification, evaluation and bid solicitation.  Work with the department managers to develop contractor scope and requirement documents, assemble and maintain bid binders and track bid results.  Monitor contractor performance, efficiency, quality and payments.  Perform field inspections including underground trench inspections.  Assist with the development of unit, bid or line/mile type cost strategies. 
  • Manage UGI Electric Division's Construction and Standards Quality Control Program.  Perform inspections, track deficiencies and prepare reports. Review and improve the overall engineering design estimation process including reasonable expectation factors, track construction efficiency and customer response/satisfaction.
  • Serve as UGI Electric Division's Reliability Engineer.  Track reliability data, investigate reliability issues and review and suggest solutions.  Participate on various reliability committees.
  • Manage/administer UGI Electric Division's pole attachment application, engineering review and contract administration process.  Serve as the primary contact with new and existing attaching entities; manage/administer the re-lamping program.  Administer the re-lamping database, develop annual re-lamping plan and associated budget.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the UGI Electric Division's Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans.  Manage and implement AEGIS recommendations and other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 5 to 15+ years of experience in electric utility operations including considerable experience in applying principles, practices and procedures of engineering and project management.
  • Knowledge of distribution line construction standards, methods and equipment.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code and National Electric Code.  PA 1-Call, and OSHA regulations pertaining to electric distribution work.
  • Possess an understanding of planning and operating principles and practices. 
  • Must be able to interpret UGI's Electric Service Tariff and administer the contractor/procurement process.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from start to completion.  Must be able to adapt standard practices to meet unique customer needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.  Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good public relations and interpersonal skills and ability to organize and deploy resources effectively.



  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or BS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Other engineering and business focused bachelor's degrees will be considered in conjunction with the applicants relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineering License is a plus.
