Direct the activities of Distribution personnel in Wilkes Barre and Pittston, sufficiently to provide for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the existing gas distribution systems including the installation of new facilities within the operating area. Monitor Contractor activity as related to both capital & maintenance backlog.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assist in establishing the Area operating budget for utility operations and manage Area performance to meet the budget. 
  • Manage Area maintenance capital budget to ensure effective use of dollars while maintaining the integrity of the distribution system.
  • Assist in measuring & prioritizing area Marketing & Operating goals consistent with our scorecard objectives and requirements. Direct the operation to meet these goals.
  • Provide area leadership to encourage interdepartmental communication and cooperation in support of the mission.
  • Develop a strong supervisory team and promote individual growth and development among the operating section employees.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Managerial, supervisory, and human relations' skills and techniques used to delegate, coordinate, and problem solve.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance activities for gas facilities. Knowledge of Federal and State Codes and the Gas Operations Manual.
  • Managerial, supervisory, and human relations' skills and techniques used to delegate, coordinate, and problem solve.
  • Knowledge and understanding of union contract. Problem solving ability with broad-scope knowledge.
  • Direct the work of assigned employees and responsibility for supervising distribution activities. Ability to relate well with associated departments and outside personnel.
  • Effective oral, written, and human relations skills in order to insure inter/infra departmental communication; minimize grievance disputes; minimize problems with municipal, state, and federal governments and the general public. Maintain a good public image.



  • Associate Degree or BS Degrees preferred or significant experience in the gas industry.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience preferred
  • OSHA 10 Hour preferred, Competent Person Certification Preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License


Working Conditions:

  • Office conditions are typical for approximately 50% of the average workday.
  • On call and emergency response.
  • Subject to hazardous working conditions, inclement weather, and on system & off system travel.
