Job Summary

 

This Engineering Co-Op position will support the Engineering Department in the administration of duties associated with the review, preparation and development of Pipeline cost analysis/bid analysis, Pipeline Schematics, Pipeline System Review, and Pipeline design assistance.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Project cost analysis / bid analysis – Review construction bids for pipeline projects, analyze bid spreads, and develop regression model to determine typical ranges of expected cost for various project types.
  • Review actual completed project costs, categorize spend, identify variances from estimate, determine causes of variances, and build an exemplar portfolio of typical types of projects and order of magnitude cost ranges to be used when estimating future similar projects.
  • Pipeline Schematics – Develop standard schematics for pipeline regulator stations, meter sets and other key facilities.
  • Build and catalog schematics for key pipeline facilities. Perform field walk- down of pipeline facilities, gather equipment data, and populate / update facility drawings and equipment databases.
  • Pipeline System Review – Review existing pipeline facilities, gather facility data from historical records and through field reconnaissance, perform pressure design calculations, identify pressure limitations, relief valve capacities, and analyze alternatives to increasing system capacity. Pipeline design assistance – Assist engineers in performing pipeline projects designs.
  • Activities may include updating and preparing drawings, performing quantity take-offs, generating bills of material, documenting statements of work, and securing quotes on material, equipment, and services.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Preferably completed a minimum of 2 year’s educational instruction and or work experience.

 

Qualifications/Education

  • Working towards B.S. in Engineering
