Job Summary

The Utility A Start to Utility A lll position is a bargaining unit position which requires a general knowledge and ability to perform basic Utility tasks such as, but not limited to; responding to leak/CO complaints when qualified, building and installing single and multiple meter sets up to AL 425, basic pipe fitting, meter changes, MRSLIP investigations, meter reading, collection and shut off work, leak investigation and repair to UGI owned piping, meter turn-ons, PA One Call locates when qualified, and ability to light and check operation of gas appliances. All work performed in accordance with Company safety policies. Postion subject to after hours work and exposure to all weather conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and install meter sets and basic pipe fitting
  • Complete turn ons and light ups
  • Meter reading and complete MRSLIP investigations
  • Respond to request for high bill complaints
  • Perform meter changes
  • Assist with leak repairs, respond to leak/CO complaints when qualified and perform other duties as requested and callout when qualified

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must posess a valid Pennsylvania vehicle operator’s license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability for after hours work and callout when judged qualified

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma required
  • City of Reading Journeyman or Master Plumber License Preferred
