Job Summary

The Utility A–Start to Utility A – III (Customer Service) should be qualified by training to do all pipefitting and customer service tasks with direct supervision including; Meter turn-on’s, turn offs, leak investigations, meter changes, basic pipefitting, emergency response when qualified and performing other work as directed once qualified. Must have a basic knowledge of the MSP and GOM, Company procedures, tools, Fuel Gas Code, etc. Also requires general knowledge and ability to perform basic customer service and utility tasks such as use of air and hand tools, equipment operation, pipefitting, shut-offs, removes, etc. Must be in good physical condition with an ability to lift up to 90 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and install meter sets and basic pipe fitting
  • Complete turn ons and light ups
  • Meter reading and complete MRSLIP investigations
  • Leak pinpointing and repairs, service installations
  • Inspect UGI Contract  or crews, PA One Call locates, respond to leak/CO complaints when qualified and perform other duties as requested and callout when qualified

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good mechanical or pipefitting skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude, analytical skills, communication skills, and physical fitness. 

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational Technical school/training a plus
  • Up to five (5) years of experience preferably in plumbing, pipefitting or a construction related field.
  • Must possess a valid PA Driver’s license
