Job Summary

The Leak Survey Lead is responsible for ensuring leak survey activities are completed for the terriority they are assigned. This will require the scheduling and management of supporting contractor resources required to facilitate the leak survey related activities. Leak survey activities include but are not limited to: walking surveys, mobile surveys (including the use of Advance Leak Detection technology), special surveys, leak idenfication and classification as well as leak resurveys. This role will be responsible for ensuring that their contracted resources are qualified and completing their work in accordance with the Gas Operations Manual. This role is expected to to rountinely perform reviews of produced documentation, conduct field audits and prepare monthly compliance reporting. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate leak survey activities with contracted resources across responsible territories. This will require the utilization of IQGeo to build out the surveys to complete, and ESRI to complete leak documentation. Ensure that all compliance is being met from these leak survey activities and ensure staffing levels are appropriate to guarantee these compliance requirements are met.
  • Maintain compliant records of leak survey activities and facilitate inspections from regulatory agencies with support from other departments as needed.
  • Complete site visits to ensure good working relationship with contracted resources and ensure quality of work being performed. Ensure that contracted resources are being paid promptly for the work that they are completing.
  • Communicate progress and status of all leak survey activities at least monthly. Provide reporting for instrument calibrations for the Operations team to ensure compliance of equipment.
  • Possess full proficiency in all leak survey methods and tools used at UGI Utilities and keep up to date with current advancements in the field to be a Subject Matter Expert at UGI Utilities. 
    Other special leak survey related projects as assigned by manager. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • General knowledge of gas distribution, including the physical makeup of the gas distribution system, operating pressures, materials used, and operational and maintenance activities.
  • Must be skilled in leak survey, with pervious experience as a leak surveyor preferred.  Must be knowledgeable in leak survey tools and methods used.
  • Basic skills in report writing, must be skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must possess leadership and organizational skills to indirectly supervise external contract employees.
  • Knowledge of Company GIS systems, databases, and other relevant systems is a plus. (ESRI and IQGeo)

 

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in quantitative discipline preferred, may be replaced by job experience.
  • 3 years of gas distribution experience, preferably in leak survey.
