Position Summary:

Provide Human Resources administrative and clerical support in the following areas:  compensation, benefits, staffing, workers' compensation, employee relations and benefits


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Investigate problems and provide assistance and/or information to employees and retirees on various HR related issues involving compensation and benefits, HR policies and practices, workers’ compensation and benefits, company policies, etc.
  • Enter data per pay period as required into system of record to track time such as vacation, personal, sick and FMLA days and complete corrections and adjustments as needed; complete other payroll data entry such as position changes, compensation changes, etc. into system of record
  • Assist employees with employee self-service for benefits, benefit enrollments and benefit changes as needed; process retiree information as needed and review with retiree
  • Provide administrative support to area HR Manager
  • Process departmental invoices and purchases/payments including A/P entry of related invoices
  • Prepare monthly reports (e.g., statistical reports; maintain injury reports/logs, EEO, AA; OSHA logs, FMLA log) and correspondence as well as the twice-yearly seniority listing; continually track merit reviews and timeliness.
  • Support the talent acquisition process; process employment verification requests as well as pre-employment verifications
    • Manage applications and candidates in SuccessFactors
    • Track new hire prescreen confirmation activity
    • Process new hires for orientation by supplying them with necessary information in advance of hire
    • Coordinate and facilitate the new hire orientation sessions for field employees; prepare orientation day information and supplies
    • Maintain EEOC applicant log
    • Review resumes and applications, communicate with candidates and schedule interviews as required
  • Track and post all union job postings, progressions and promotions
  • Create security I.D. badges for all local employees, regular and contract, for locations including Reading, Training Center, CGC Leesport, HVAC, and any employees as required
  • Create/update security badges for employees from other areas as needed; remove access as needed from information received on division-wide employee termination report
  • During the course of completing responsibilities, this role will interact with the following:
    • Banks and credit unions to verify employment
    • Insurance provider reps when investigating/resolving benefit issues
    • State Job Service (act as liaison when seeking external job candidates)
    • Occupational medicine offices to schedule physicals or refer injured employees and to clarify data
    • Publications for placement for employment ads
    • Temporary agencies for hiring of temporary employees
    • Administer drug testing for random substance abuse testing and pre-employment screening(s)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Broad knowledge of HR and Payroll programs, processes and procedures

Effective oral and written communication skills

Proficiency with MicroSoft Office suite of products, HRIS (preferrably SAP SuccessFactors) and general office equipment

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and complete responsibilities independently



Education:  High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in HR related field or Business Administration preferred

Length of Experience:  2 or more years in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred
