Oversight of company-wide Manufactured Gas Plant Sites (MGP) including investigations and remediation.  Responsibilities including budget management, cost tracking, investigations, remediations, public relations, and compliance.  Developing and maintaining liability cost estimating for company-wide environmental liabilities.  Provide assistance with area operations for environmental projects including environmental due diligence, site investigations, waste disposal and cleanups.  Company contact and oversight of out-of-state MGP sites in accordance with executed settlement agreements.


Principle Accountabilities:

  • Oversight of MGP Sites in accordance with UGI management policies, consent order agreements, Federal Regulations, and the PADEP Act 2 Program.  Coordination of programs associated with the MGP program, such as the Terradex site monitoring system and the database management system.  Coordination with landowners, regulatory agencies, and UGI representatives to achieve goals.  Oversight of consultants and contractors involved with the MGP program.  Fiscal management of MGP program.
  • Development and maintaining probabilistic cost modeling and cost tracking for environmental liabilities. 
  • Company-wide supervision of environmental activities to support area operations including environmental incidents, spills, or other environmental assessments.
  • Oversight and supervision of out-of-state MGP Sites in accordance with UGI management policies, executed settlement agreements, and regulatory requirements.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in environmental work including site investigations and remediation, preferably some experience in manufactured gas plant sites. 
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental laws, regulations, specifically the PADEP Act 2 Program.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Work experience in multiple environmental areas such as waste, permitting, regulations, etc.
  • Ability to act as an internal consultant company-wide.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, with internal and external groups including legal, corporate, utility management, and other consultants and regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated project management and supervisory skills to govern projects, consultants, and contractors.
  • Good public relation and interpersonal skills.



  • BS degree in environmental studies and/or engineering as a minimum.  Progress towards an advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • 8-hour Supervisory DOT Training.
