Position Summary:

Ensure compliance in the welding program. Identify industry best practices and integrate to achieve standardization and efficiency throughout the organization. Perform quality assurance audits.


Principle Accountabilities:

  • Test welders for UGI Utilities and contractors.
  • Provide training on UGI Welding Standards to Inspectors, Engineering and Supervision as necessary. Provide other training as required.
  • Perform field audits and inspections to support steel projects.
  • Develop and coordinate special programs and procedures related to quality control.
  • Provide support to Engineering and Operations personnel responsible for pipeline systems.
  • Review codes and practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 10 years or more experience in pipeline welding or inspecting welding.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements regarding welding. Specific knowledge of API 1104 and ASME welding codes.
  • Proven ability to recognize welds that are acceptable and/or unacceptable in accordance with welding codes and the UGI Standards.
  • Proven ability to communicate expectations to welders and inspectors.
  • Previous experience as a trainer, coach or mentor.


  • High School diploma or Bachelors’ Degree in welding or engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in welding.
  • American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector
