Position Summary:
Support the project management and engineering group with authorization, project execution, and project close out.  The areas of focus are document creation for initial project authorizations and necessary re-authorizations, obtaining information for project design, assisting in outside service and material obtainment, obtaining financial data to monitor progress in focus area, and project close out. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support engineers and project managers with the preparation and assembly of project authorization documents.  Assist with the development of technical and financial project documents, in conjunction with the respective engineers, for project authorizations.  Arrange documents required for project funding as appropriate, modify project forecasts and area blanket budgets.  Enter necessary information into the respective work order management and financial tracking systems.  Develop document routing for authorization.  Monitor and expedite project approval as necessary.  Obtain respective pre and post approval project numbers.  Complete necessary project cost transfers.
  • Support project managers by obtaining cost information and tracking project expenses versus budget.  Support engineers and project managers with the preparation of project re-authorization documents.  Obtain project cost data and summarize into formats for utilization in project variances.  Assist in the development of documents and routing for the re-authorizations.
  • Collect and review project field documentation for correctness and completeness. Develop, complete, and route project close out documentation to Maps and Records, Operations, Engineering, and Plant Accounting.  Assist in the mediation of meetings between engineering, operations, contractor, and project management personnel.
  • In coordination with operations and engineering, review and manage the overall project deficiency log.  Assign responsibilities and collect and review updated field documentation for correctness and completeness.  Communicate with Maps and Records to provide updates on outstanding deficiencies.
  • In coordination with the project manager, assist in the development of documents for construction or professional service obtainment.  Procure the necessary plans and specifications to support the respective obtainment. Perform the necessary tasks to notify, award, and authorize the work.
  • With the respective project manager or engineer, develop documents for non-stock material, specialty materials, equipment and other service obtainment.  Procure the necessary supplemental plans and specifications to support the respective obtainment.  Perform the necessary tasks to notify, award, and authorize the work.
  • Complete all other work assignments and special projects as directed by the Sr. Manager – Area Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent skills in work process flow with associated internal administrative processes and procedures.
  • Aptitude in learning the processes and procedures associated with design and construction of natural gas facilities. 
  • Aptitude in learning new computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, DocuSign, and the Company Mainframe and SAP computer systems.
  • Familiarity with office work flow procedures.

High School Diploma or equivalent
General knowledge of utility design and construction
