Job Summary

The Community Relations Program Manager develops and implements programs within the incumbent's assigned area aimed at promoting community awareness of UGI, the Company's vision, mission, commitment to the betterment of the communities it serves, and its responsibility to safely and dependably deliver natural gas to our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage with key community-based organizations to build relationships that enhance and expand understanding and awareness of UGI’s commitment to communities.
  • As necessary, mobilize support from community-based organizations to assist the Company in delivering customer assistance, facility replacement and betterment information distribution, incident response assistance and promotion of news regarding UGI investment in the communities it serves.  
  • Budget and manage annual community relations donations and sponsorship budget for the West Region, including identifying recipient organizations, evaluating programs to sponsor, reviewing reports and metrics on programs receiving UGI support, and ensuring tax credit donations programs conducted by UGI are properly managed to ensure maximum benefit to UGI, our customers, and the many communities we serve. 
  • Lead and support UGI employee volunteer initiatives within the Region, and support Company-wide employee engagement initiatives (RIF, United Way Campaign, Red Cross “Sound the Alarm”) in conjunction with East and North Region Managers.
  • Represent UGI on significant community organization Boards; support UGI senior executives in their community organization board positions within the Region.
  • Collaborate with Community Relations Manager – North Region, Community Relations Manager – East Region, and  Community Relations Coordinator to develop high-quality Company-wide programs and initiatives and to build Community Relations annual plan and budget.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and succinctly.
  • Understands and is comfortable with natural gas utility operations / capable of explaining company functions and operations to outside audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships and network with community leaders, local elected and appointed officials, and business and organizations leaders.
  • Able to develop draft plans and budgets, and to organize programs and projects involving both internal and external resources.
  • Comfortable in participating in cross-functional teams developing strategies, tactics and integrated plans.
  • Experience developing and managing charitable giving, volunteerism, community relations and/or corporate social responsibility programs.
  • Ability to identify changing community priorities / able to recommend adjustment to plans, strategies and tactics to ensure strong results.
  • Comfortable providing support and mentoring to employee volunteer programs; serve as organizer of UGI participation within the incumbent's assigned area to ensure all volunteer slots are filled for needed events, programs.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS degree (Communications, Marketing, Social Work) or high school diploma and 7-10 years’ experience in CR.
  • minimum of 7 years providing community relations or related activities in a corporate, non-profit or agency setting.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
