Summary:

 

The Utility A Start / Field Technician position is a bargaining unit position in the C&M Department.  The position has a structured training and progression plan which provides the opportunity to learn skills necessary to preform: service line inspection, meter reading, collections, turn ons, shut offs, line locating, odor investigations, gas leak and carbon monoxide investigations, pipefitting, odorant testing, basic gas construction and maintenance skills and other skills. :

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Build and install meter sets and basic pipe fitting
  • Complete natural gas turn-ons and light ups
  • Responed to inside and outside odor complaints when qualified and cover IROC 
  • Install and maintain a natural gas distribution system (Leak repair, new services and mains)
  • Perform other duties as requested

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good mechanical aptitude and/or pipe fitting skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Availability for after hours work and callout when judged qualified

 

Education/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • CDL-A license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Current Valid PA driver’s license

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position will be exposed to all weather conditions
