Job Summary

In this role the incumbent will Coordinate and control the Transmission and Distribution of power to ensure safe and reliable service within Company guidelines. Each Transmission and Distribution System Operator has the responsibilities and authority to take actions that are needed to ensure the reliability of the Bulk Electric System and alleviate operating emergencies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operating equipment and shedding firm load to alleviate emergencies.
  • Each System Operator shall comply with all operating instructions from the Reliability Coordinator and/or Transmission Operator (PJM).
  • Regional Transmission Operations
  • Distribution Service Delivery
  • Transmission Switching
  • Distribution Switching
  • Individual or Team Project
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and economics
  • Strong Multitasking and Situational Awareness Skills
  • Make decisions quickly and accurately in critical situations; concentration; work independently
  • Basic knowledge of substation equipment and operations; relay/communications; power station operations.          
  • Knowledge of NERC/FERC regulations
Education and Experience
  • Two-year degree in a Technical Field
