Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, install, customize, and maintain O/S patches and system software.  Interact with software vendors to evaluate potential software products and solve technical problems.

Collaborates on all phases of the systems development life-cycle (SDLC) with a focus on the analysis, design, and development of configuration-based solutions.  Must continuously maintain and develop the necessary skillsets, both technical and analytical to enhance value-added business solutions and in keeping with the IT architecture. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the request and analysis phases of Infrastructure by assisting with documentation and estimates.  Executes the design, development, testing and implementation phases of hardware lifecycle by producing the prescribed deliverables. 
  • Install, customize, and deploy server and application software, including server components.  Provide technical support and guidance to applications owners to for deployment of application systems.  Coordinate software upgrades due to bug fix, service pack, OS, or Database upgrade.
  • Troubleshoot incidents reported against IT applications.  Assist in investigating issues to determine the root cause of problems, responding to job failures in a timely manner.  Provide 24X7 primary and/or secondary support to core applications considered business critical.  Work with software vendors to resolve technical problems. 
  • Manage applicable third party vendor relationships to ensure on-going interface and product support towards meeting the needs of the Company.  Research and evaluate new technology and concepts to improve department efficiency and make sure they match IT Architecture Standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess analytical skills, which allows for the assessment of business processes and how they guide and shape application functionality.
  • Knowledge of server-based operating systems such as Linux and Windows.  Knowledge of desktop utilities, scripting languages, packaged business applications and general programming.
  • Understands project plans and is able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines.
  • Basic knowledge IT Governance and Management framework or other structured industry standard methodologies.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated technical experience in supporting or administering relevant technology preferred. 
  • ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) Foundation certification (at hire or within 12 months in position). 
  • Knowledge of specific operating systems components including software installation and maintenance, storage and device management, user and group security, networking, process and resource scheduling.
