Position Summary:

This role supports the Energy Supply Team’s efforts to provide customers with gas supplies at the lowest possible cost.  This position leads a team that monitors and communicates activity at FERC dockets for changes to pipeline services and rates that may have an impact on the Company’s purchased gas costs, prepares forecasts related to the fixed gas costs and average capacity costs to be used in the development of the Company’s Purchased Gas Costs Rates, capacity charges, and capacity release rates.  The Sr. Supervisor – Energy Supply & Planning role is responsible for overseeing the administration of all supply contract negotiations, compliance reporting, and administration of the pre-month and daily delivery requirements for the Choice program.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Energy Supply FERC Regulatory Planning:  Supervise team responsible for Monitoring FERC regulatory proceedings and provide summaries to leadership.  Create monthly reports on rate changes, rate regulations, and expected impacts on the Company.  Assist in developing rate analyses related to Company’s agreements with pipeline suppliers.
  • Contract Administration:  Manage the acquisition of assets to transport the commodity from the producing regions to the distribution system in PA in accordance with the group’s long-term capacity plan.  Manage contract extensions, renewals and terminations.    Manage the negotiation for all supply interconnections with interstate pipelines, local natural gas production wells, gathering systems, peaking and storage facilities, all NAESB, and all Power contracts. 
  • Supply Transportation Programs and Rates:  Supervise a team that maintains a forecast of the Company’s annual fixed gas costs and transportation credits for use in the calculation of the Purchased Gas Costs Rates.  Lead the development WACODs used for the capacity charge and capacity release for transportation customers.  Lead the administration the Energy Supply Department’s requirements related to transportation customer programs.  Oversee the administration of the pre-month normal, design condition delivery requirements, and daily delivery requirements.  Determine monthly capacity release, bundled, and peaking allocations for Natural Gas Suppliers serving participating transportation customers. 
  • Government Reporting & Compliance Administration:  Supervise the administration of the Energy Supply Department’s Regulatory plans related to FERC and PUC proceedings, reporting, and filings. Oversee the data response process in DREAM with the goal of meeting all response deadlines.  Monitor and report compliance with Company’s FERC, Risk, SOX, and Audit policies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of UGI’s entire pipeline capacity portfolio and entitlements
  • Knowledge of Interstate Pipeline operations, constraints, interconnects, balancing rules, OBA’s, cash-out/in rates.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet development and design.
  • Ability to prioritize and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Education:  B.S. in Business, Accounting, or related discipline. 
Length of Experience:  2 yrs.
Other:  Natural gas, electric, or commodity experience required
