Summary:

 

This position is responsible for directing the daily activities of the GIS group.  This includes updating and maintaining the corporate GIS system and associated facility databases.  This position is also responsible for assisting the Marketing and Operations groups with data cleanup activities and special projects.  Collecting and processing GPS data for landbase and facility collection and processing also falls under this position. 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Operate and maintain the UGI Geographic Information System (GIS) and facility databases.  Supervise and train the GIS Technicians for all gas business units.
  • Support the consolidation efforts to ensure that all gas business units are able to utilize consistent software and business processes.
  • Provide change management and technical training for all core GIS systems including Smallworld, Design Manager, Design Manager Cathodic Protection, unplanned shutdown and as-built / field sketch drawings.
  • Provide data summaries and reports for all formal data requests including Annual DOT, PHMSA NPMS, FL1, LTTP and Asset optimization.  Perform other duties as requested.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Fundamental knowledge of GIS systems and principles
  • Knowledge of database constructs and structure
  • Understanding of GPS equipment and principles
  • Public Speaking – software training for field and office users
  • Competent with Microsoft Office, SQL, FME, Smallworld and ESRI GIS Systems

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in a GIS related field or engineering degree with operations/marketing systems experience
  • At least 2 years of experience
