Job Summary

The Sr.  Coordinator EHS and HR provides administrative support in functional areas of Environmental, Health and Safety and HR.  This includes but is not limited to scheduling and tracking of safety policies and procedures, testing and trainings, as well as supporting HR functions for the Electric division and other HR responsibilities and general administrative support. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to EHS department including coordinating First Aid/CPR training and tracking, coordination and scheduling annual Hearing Conservation and Fit Testing, maintenance of Catalogs (PPE and Equipment/Tyndale), Monthly Safety Topic sign-in sheets and tracking of attendance and completion.
  • Investigate problems/issues and provide assistance and/or information to employees and retirees on various HR related issues including compensation and benefits, HR policies and practices and Company policies.  Maintain all applicable records for new hires, terminations, payroll, etc. timely and accurately.  Complete and process HR changes to employees’ profiles in People Connect.  FMLA administration includes assisting employees with claim filing and monitoring active cases.  Assist employees as needed with self-service benefits enrollments and changes.  Coordinate random drug testing, annual DOT physicals, fit for duty exams, etc. for area employees.
  • Assist Benefits group with wellness program events (flu shots). Process all HR invoices relating to the employment process.  Invoices include those for new hire pre-emp screenings, random drug screens, DOT recert and respirator evaluations.
  • Provide administrative support to Area HR Manager.  Coordinate monthly Labor Management meetings. Support talent acquisition efforts and employee onboarding.  Prepare ad hoc reports; maintain injury reports & coordinate injury treatment and follow-up with third party administrator.  Track and post all union job postings, progressions and promotions. Process I.D. badge tickets for new hires.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, monthly reports, special projects on an as needed basis for the VP EHS & Tech Support and team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • General knowledge and understanding of employment policies, practices and procedures
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations particularly the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave and the Americans with Disability Act.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Word, Power Point and Excel skills. Experience with HRIS, preferably SAP (People Connect), (FIORI) and DocuSign.
  • Well-developed and effective interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • A capacity and willingness to learn new skills quickly.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.  Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • 5 or more years of human resources administrative experience
