Job Summary
The Sr Sustainability Analyst conducts functional and operational aspects of Sustainability initiatives at the Company, which includes reporting for Environmental Sustainability (ESG) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG). The role also coordinates aspects of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects associated with gas quality sampling and interconnect agreements. This role will provide support to develop standards related to Sustainability policies and procedures. The collection and management of data associated with the noted programs is integral. The role also supports other environmental compliance programs at the Company by performing data management, reporting, and stakeholder coordination to help achieve program objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Environmental Sustainability
• Work with management to provide oversight of the environmental sustainability program, ESG reporting, and GHG reporting requirements.
• Lead data collection, quality assurance, and compilation efforts for the Company to support the Annual ESG Report and regulatory climate disclosures, ensuring accuracy and alignment with reporting frameworks (TCFD, CDP, GRI, SASB).
• Understand ESG metrics and KPIs to track performance against corporate targets and peer utilities; identify gaps and recommend improvements.
• Understand and work with management to advance Corporate ESG team strategic sustainability initiatives, including climate transition planning, stakeholder engagement, and ESG ratings management.
• Monitor evolving climate and environmental regulations (federal, state, and local) and emerging technologies for emissions reduction; assess implications for utility operations and strategy.
• Manage third-party vendors and technical resources for emissions monitoring, GHG inventory development, and compliance with EPA reporting requirements and corporate ESG commitments.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design and implement projects and policies that reduce overall organizational emissions and advance sustainability goals. Includes active participation in and leadership of internal groups focused on the same.
• Participate in organizations and collaboratives associated with sustainability, methane emissions, and RNG.
Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
• Coordinate the gas quality sampling and development of standards for company RNG projects, includes working with engineering, marketing, construction, and operations teams to design, construct, and commission RNG interconnects. Provide support and input with associated operational procedures.
• Provide functional coordination and input for the development and execution of Coordination/Interconnect Agreements.
• Responsible for coordinating subcontractor resources to conduct facility audits and sampling at operational RNG facilities based on the requirements set forth in the Interconnect Agreements.
• Coordination with other company stakeholders to revise standards, training, and safety requirements associated with RNG.
• Provide fiscal management against approved budgets. Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures as per UGI’s financial processes and policies.
Environmental Compliance Programs
• Provide data management and analytical support to meet regulatory and internal reporting requirements associated with environmental compliance programs (e.g., PCBs, waste, mercury regulator, permitting, spoils, etc.). Includes providing support with data analysis and strategic planning to establish, track, and meet goals established by those programs. Works with respective program managers and internal stakeholders to garner appropriate input and data in support of program initiatives.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to devise and promote policies, protocols, and programs that improve the Company’s adherence to environmental regulations.
• Understand environmental regulations and changes affecting the business and associated environmental compliance programs. Provide support with the assessment, development, and implementation of improvements to procedures and protocols to enhance compliance with regulations.
• Provide fiscal management against approved budgets for delegated tasks. Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures as per UGI’s financial processes and policies.
• Provide support to the MGP Program focused on financial planning and strategic analysis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience with data management and ESG software platforms, including proficiency with Excel and SQL-database tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations affecting the energy industry
- Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., TCFD, CDP, GRI, SASB) and emerging climate disclosure frameworks.
- Understanding of climate risk assessment methodologies and scenario analysis.
- Knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting, emissions reduction strategies, and natural gas quality standards.
- Knowledge of the components of the UGI Corporate ESG Program and utility industry sustainability trends.
- Experience applying environmental regulations in support of natural gas industry.
- Knowledge and experience with employee safety including PPE and gas monitoring equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Policy, Public Policy, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or MBA, a plus
- 5+ years of experience
- Professional sustainability certifications (e.g., GRI, SASB, ISSP, CDP) or project management certifications (e.g., PMP) preferred.
