Job Summary

Functional Analyst responsible for translating the Business requirements of the Functional Areas (e.g., Finance, Controlling, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Customer Service, Meter Operations, etc.) into SAP IS-U/CR&B system via the SAP Implementation Guide (SAP IMG) with focus on Choice/IDEX and Billing Master Data price changes.  This position will also provide primary support within the SAP system and to third party vendors for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processing interfaces, EDI exceptions and quarterly Supplier testing in SAP.  

This includes involvement in all aspects of project work, on-going functional enhancements, troubleshooting, software patching and legal changes.  Collaborates on all phases of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) with a focus on the analysis, design, and development of configuration-based solutions.  Must continuously maintain and develop the necessary skillsets, both technical and analytical, to enhance value-added business solutions and in keeping with the IT architecture.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge of Choice, EDI and Billing business processes, related system functions and gain technical skills in assigned functional area.  Broaden capability in SAP system within assigned functional area to solve system issues, update prices, resolve EDI processing exceptions, perform unit, integration and quarterly Supplier testing.  
  • Works with business unit analysts and other IT resources, to develop new systems and enhance existing systems to meet changing policy, regulatory and business requirements. Performs configuration to support defined business processes/functions including timely testing and validation of software patches released by SAP.
  • Manage applicable third-party vendor relationships for EDI processing to ensure timely and accurate EDI transmission to Suppliers.  Provide professional and timely responses to technical inquiries from vendors and Suppliers.
  • Troubleshoots incidents reported against IT applications. Assist in investigating issues to determine the root cause of problems. Supports and monitors daily batch processing, responding to job failures in a timely manner.  Provides 24X7 primary and/or secondary support to core applications considered business critical.
  • Supports the request and analysis phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) by assisting with documentation and estimates.  Executes the design, development, testing and implementation phases of SDLC by producing functional specifications, test plans and effort estimates, under the guidance of more senior staff. Follows established change management procedures to ensure that application modifications are implemented in a way that meet internal IT controls.  
  • Keep apprised of current trends in the business marketplace with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support, and applying key technologies.  Provides input and direction on business unit technology strategies. 
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess analytical skills, which allows for the assessment of business processes and how they guide and shape application functionality.
  • Possess basic competency to comprehend technical design specifications, work with SAP tables, and SAP queries.  
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Understands project plans and is able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines.
  • Basic knowledge of COBIT5 based IT Governance and Management framework or other structured industry standard methodologies.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent discipline is preferred.  
  • Prior hands-on experience supporting business processes, applications or systems with analysis, configuration, testing and/or improvement focus in one of the following components is desired: 
    • SAP IDEX - Intercompany Data Exchange for Deregulated Markets
    • SAP IS-U Billing 
    • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
  • In lieu of experience in the components listed above, two (2)+ years of direct hands-on experience supporting business processes, applications or systems with analysis, testing and/or improvement focus is required.
  • ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) Foundation certification (at hire or within 12 months in position).
