The incumbent will manage hydraulic models of the natural gas distribution system through periodic update of model GIS data and customer loads.  Periodically validate hydraulic models using actual conditions observed. 


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Update hydraulic models to incorporate facility additions or changes and customer loads.  Periodically validate models using actual observed system performance measurements (i.e. pressure, flow). 
  • Conduct special analyses or projects to improve modeling and hydraulic system planning.
  • Review validated models with area engineering and local operations to ensure accuracy and increase buy-in from key stakeholders.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Manipulation of GIS data and databases to update Synergi models
  • General understanding of gas pipeline flow
  • Proficiency with various MS Office applications
  • Technical writing skills
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills



  • Associate Degree in GIS, Engineering or related field and/or a working knowledge and experience with GIS or modeling technology.
  • At least one year of work experience in a utility or GIS position preferred.


Working Conditions:

  • Regular office conditions are the typical working environment for this position, though construction or field support responsibilities may expose the position to heavy construction machinery, gaseous environments, noise, temperature extremes, vibrations, dust and etc., that would require safety equipment, clothing, and procedures as outlined in the UGI Safety & Health Manual.
