Job Summary
Hybrid role open to the following locations: Denver, Middletown, Lehigh or Wilkes-Barres
Provides leadership and direction for UGI Utilities’ Safety & Health Program. Leads a team of safety professionals to develop and support policies and procedures that are consistent with industry standards and applicable OSHA regulations and to conduct safety improvement activities across the UGI service territory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuous improvement of the UGI Safety and Health Program, including policies, processes and training, in accordance with applicable regulatory, industry standards, and Company requirements while improving the safety culture.
- Lead a team of safety professionals to engage stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture, assist with safety solutions development, and provide internal stakeholder customer service for the Company to operate effectively and safely.
- Assists management in assuring a safe and healthful conditions for workers. Partners with and proactively engages with management to address identified hazards and promote an accident-free environment.
- Manage measurement and reporting of safety-related results of the Company’s overall efforts to enhance the safety culture and performance at UGI through benchmarking, peer reviews, etc.)
- Manage regulatory safety compliance and report to agencies including OSHA, BLS and others as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong general safety background and knowledge as it pertains to the Utility Industry, including OSHA, DOT and State regulations.
- Expert ability to build strong relationships and develop trust across the organization across all levels of the organization, anticipating reactions and planning strategically to overcome objections.
- Ability to guide and influence others that are not directly reporting to this position.
- Ability to lead complex, large projects and/or multi-location initiatives; manage time and resources effectively through organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to juggle multiple tasks to effectively achieve results.
- Communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing; demonstrated skill in proactively building strong relationships with partners/leaders/customers both internally and externally; ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Safety or related field, preferred. Masters degree a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety-related position with increasing management responsibilities preferred.
- CSP or CIH, preferred
